150 g masa harina
237 g water
  1. 1. Mix 150g masa harina with 237g water in a bowl.
  2. 2. Stir until the dough reaches the consistency of fresh Play-Doh; it should not stick to your fingers.
  3. 3. Form the dough into small balls about the size of a golf ball and cover them with a moistened towel to prevent drying.
  4. 4. Flatten each ball using a tortilla press or a rolling pin.
  5. 5. Check the edges—if they are smooth, the dough is properly hydrated.
  6. 6. Cook each tortilla on a hot skillet or griddle for about 30 seconds on one side, then flip and cook for another 30 seconds.
  7. 7. Flip again and cook for another 10-15 seconds until it puffs up slightly.
  8. 8. Keep the cooked tortillas wrapped in a clean towel to stay warm.
